Dr. Bratinkáné Polgár Edit
I teach English language and British culture in this school and I am the head teacher of the English department as well. My job is to teach this transfer language to our students coming from different countries with different cultural background. I coordinate the other English teachers’ work and the evaluation of the students’ knowledge. Having graduated from Szeged University in 1976, I committed myself to teaching English on secondary level. In the beginning I worked in a small secondary school in Makó, then I became a teacher trainer as well in Szeged. In 1988 I actively participated –first as a head teacher then a deputy headmaster- in the opening of a new bilingual secondary school, where my job was to elaborate and coordinate the dual language programme. I organised quite a few student exchanges and teacher training courses. Since 1982 I have often been the chairperson on matura exams in different other schools. I lived abroad for seven years (France, Italy) where I could experience a different attitude to life and I could learn what the new expectations are that we have to come up to here in Hungary too. In my everyday work I try to make my students understand what today’s requirements are and how they could be successful in their professional career as well as in their personal relations.
