Nick Palmer
Hello, I’m Nick Palmer and I come from London, England. I graduated from Exeter University and I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE. I also have a Masters of Art Degree in Education / Applied Linguistics. I’ve been living in Budapest for over ten years now. I started working for this school in 1997 as a teacher of English Literature. However, I work full time at the Budapest University of Technology as a teacher of English Language.
Apart from teaching Literature at this school, I have also taught English Language. I have also run the Debate Society, which participates in the Hungarian Karl Popper Debate Tournament. I am proud to say that we have won the Tournament before now and one of our students was chosen to represent Hungary in the international version of the competition a few years ago.
I am a keen flamenco guitarist and often give concerts, usually solo, although I sometimes perform with a singer and a dancer. I love music, especially punk rock, which might seem strange from a flamenco guitarist! I love cricket and golf, though I don’t get to play much of either in Hungary. I’m a big football (soccer) fan and since I come from London, I ought to say I’m a big fan of Arsenal. Just when the Literature lesson gets interesting on the topic of Shakepeare’s use of meter in his Sonnets, or the power of Wordsworth’s sublime reverse personification in his poetry, often the question comes to me about how the Gunners (Arsenal) got on on Saturday.
See you in the Lit lessons for a rivetting discussion on the stream of consciousness.
